Steven planned and managed camp-wide events such as "tie-dye day". Campers and staff dyed over 200 items over the course of the day (and none got lost!)

Steven grew up living and breathing camp. His mother works as a summer program coordinator, and Steven spent his childhood near her desk watching as she put together some exciting camp opportunities.

Steven is a believer in the benefit of summer camp for children -- most importantly that it gives them the opportunity to develop skills, social skills, an appreciation for nature, and hobbies that they would be unable to explore during the normal school year.

Steven has spent numerous years working his way through the ranks starting as a counselor-in-training, then as an assistant counselor, then as a head counselor, and was promoted to the Assistant Director of Camps. He served as the interim director of camp for the summers of 2012, 2019, and 2020  at the award-winning Summer at Friends camp in Baltimore. At Summer at Friends, Steven plays many roles -- applying his technology skills as a liaison to the Tech Camps and assisting the camp office with their tech needs. Steven is proficient in EZ-CAMP 2, and assists the office with database management and data entry. Other responsibilities include basic maintenance, addressing camper, parent, and staff concerns, and scheduling and planning.

Steven enjoys combining his skills as an audio engineer, production manager, and crew manager into the day-to-day operations at camp. He frequently sets up PA systems to allow announcement and music at camp-wide events, as well as to help set the mood for special events like carnival day.

Steven is a member of the American Camp Association.
