Steven has experience working as an audio engineer in numerous settings.

As a live sound engineer Steve believes in capturing the natural sound of the instruments, and amplifying them in a manner that doesn't artificially color the sound. Steve has worked as a live sound engineer for numerous events ranging from lectures, graduations and banquets to jazz combos to full theatrical production. Steve is comfortable on a wide array of analog and digital consoles, and has extensive experience on Soundcraft's SI series, the Behringer X32 and most Allen & Heath, Mackie, and Yamaha analog consoles.

Steve's passion in audio engineering is on-location recording. Steve's philosophy in on-location is to capture the authentic sound of the performance in the best possible manner. Steve utilizes ideal microphone placement to isolate the acoustic nature of the instrument and to achieve the best possible blend of the ensemble. Steve believes in capturing a quality signal at the beginning, rather than trying to repair the sound in post-production. Steve utilizes Izotope RX to remove unwanted noises such s air handlers, passing trucks, and even the occasional screaming child! Steve has recorded small ensembles, full orchestra & choir, wind ensembles, jazz bands, and solo recitals.

Steve also has experience in the studio. Steve has worked with numerous studio consoles including the SSL Duality and Avid's D-Command.  Steve has experience in Logic, Nuendo, Pro-Tools, and is working on developing his chops in Pyramix. Steve also has experience on both analog and digital tape machines, and has attended training at ATR in Pennsylvania.
